I have found juicing has been really helpful on my journey to healing. One thing I do know is that I can tell a difference when I’m juicing and NOT juicing. My energy levels are one of the largest benefits for me. Getting through my work days without the crashing or coming home and going for a nap and waking up the next day. These scenarios I have noticed only occur less frequently when I am juicing my vegetables and a little bit of fruit.
There are many health benefits when drinking freshly juiced fruits and vegetables, it a great way to add nutrients to your diet that you normally cannot intake in your normal daily food consumption. Fruits and vegetables juices retain most of the vitamins, minerals and plant chemicals (phytonutrients) that would be found in the whole versions of those foods. These nutrients can help protect against cardiovascular disease, cancer and various inflammatory diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis. Valuable compounds can be found in a variety of fruits and vegetables and guard against oxidative cellular damage.These days our environment simply isn’t as wholesome as it used to be and many factors such as our water, the air we breathe, the everyday-foods we ingest, chemicals used in our places of work and even the preservatives used in make-up. We are exposed to all kinds of toxic substances and pollution on a daily basis.
Here are a few recipes I like to follow and why.
- Apples – 2 medium
- Carrots – 3 medium
- Celery – 3 stalk, large
- Ginger Root – 1 thumb
- Lemons (peeled) – 2 fruit
- Pears – 2 medium
- Turmeric Root – 6 thumb
Benefits of the juice:
Lower Blood pressure , reduces inflammation, Energy, cancer prevention, weight loss, Digestion, immune system just to name a few.
Celery – calms the nerve because of the high calcium content & helps in controlling high blood pressure. Raw celery should be eaten to reduce high blood pressure.
Lemons –high blood pressure, dizziness, nausea as provides relaxation to mind and body. It reduces mental stress and depression, weight loss. Lemons are a natural antiseptic, can participate to cure problems related to skin.
Ginger- helps reduce inflammation therefore it can be used to treat any disease that is caused by inflammations such as arthritis or ulcerative colitis etc. Ginger has been shown in animal trials to help slow or even prevent cancerous tumor growth. Assists in nausea relief, morning sickness & motion sickness.
Carrots – diuretic and helps to eliminate excess fluids from the body, reducing water retention. Helps cleanse the liver and assists with digestion.
Tumeric – strong anti- inflammatory agent
Pear – Pears have anti-oxidants and anti-carcinogen glutathione which helps prevent high blood pressure. Pears have a high amount of fructose and glucose, which helps you get a quick and natural boost of energy. The high copper and vitamin C content in pears provide good anti-oxidants that can protect cells from damages by free radicals
